A grieving mother says she is devastated by a group's attempt to "block" a memorial for the children who died in a jumping castle tragedy in Tasmania's north-west.

In December 2021, at an end-of-year celebration at Hillcrest Primary School, a gust of wind ripped a jumping castle filled with children from the oval and tossed it into the air.

It claimed the lives of six children — Zane Mellor, Peter Dodt, Jalailah Jayne-Maree Jones, Addison Stewart, Jye Sheehan, and Chace Harrison — and left three of their classmates seriously injured.

In June, the operator of the jumping castle was found not guilty of a health and safety charge .
