Denver wife-and-husband-led band Tennis has sometimes been likened to Captain & Tennille, and that’s meant as a compliment. Keen listeners will hear hints of Brill Building pop and ’70s “AM gold” in their original material. Across seven albums and two EPs, Alaina Moore, Patrick Riley, and their band have carved out a place on the pop landscape, combining a retro aesthetic with modern (sometimes even lo-fi) production values. Tennis’ latest album, 2025’s Face Down in the Garden, has been announced as the group’s final release, though Moore and Riley emphasize that they’re not leaving the music world.
