There isn’t much wiggle room around the chilling fact that Chicago is a dangerous place.
The Windy City has sat atop the table for most violent American cities with more than 1 million inhabitants for seven years running. The homicide rate per capita is three times that of Los Angeles and almost five times higher than in New York City.
Over the Labour Day weekend, 58 people were shot in Chicago, with eight having their tickets punched: “Morgue.”
The youngest was a 16-year-old girl who took a bullet in the arm, while the oldest appears to be Efrain Sanchez, 48, who was shot and killed. It wasn’t just people letting off steam after too many beers on the traditional holiday; numbers from last weekend were similar.
