EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Damon Hareld is ready for whatever the new school year will bring.

Hareld has been Toll Gate High School's safety coordinator since September 2023, but has worked with kids for three decades.

For Hareld, it's more than just a job. Hareld told 12 News more than a year ago that he grew up on the streets of Providence and made a conscious decision as a teenager to straighten up and become a productive citizen.

Throughout the school day, Hareld walks the halls and makes sure students are going down the right path. His mission is to make students' life better so they can grow up to be successful.
