The Town of Sylvan Lake received $295,000 for programs that support at-risk youth.
The funding comes from Alberta Crime Prevention and can be used to help youth between the ages of 12 and 24.
In recent years, some of the young people in Sylvan Lake have been struggling, director of wellness and community connections Alissa McDonald said.
"We've seen more issues like bullying, skipping school, and crime. Many of these challenges come from things young people can't control, like family stress, limited services, or feeling isolated."
With the grant, the Town will be able to do more, she added.
"We can step in earlier and give youth the tools, support, and connections they need to make healthier choices and feel more confident about their future."
This grant is exciting news for Sylvan L
