Two people were charged Monday with obstruction of justice as they demonstrated along a bridge near Mount Jackson on Monday.

Virginia State Police was notified at approximately 10:04 a.m. on Monday of a group of demonstrators standing on the Interstate 81 overpass at Exit 269 in Shenandoah County, State Police Public Relations Coordinator Matthew Demlein said in an email Tuesday.

Troopers arrived on the scene and notified two groups of approximately 12 people total that they needed to leave the bridge due to a lack of sidewalks and for safety concerns, Demlein stated.

Police report that two people refused to vacate, according to Demlein.
