The peak union body is embracing a government push to harness artificial intelligence as a force for growth, but is still pushing for laws that businesses fear will stifle the technology.
ACTU assistant secretary Joseph Mitchell will use a symposium in Canberra on Wednesday to welcome AI while calling for measures to regulate its adoption.
The union argues there needs to be an agenda that empowers jobs, workers and growth through AI.
