After smothering Nevada 46-11, Penn State and James Franklin made a move in the US LBM Coaches Poll.
The Nittany Lions came in at No. 2, moving one spot from their preseason No. 3 ranking. They trail only Ohio State, who moved from No. 2 to No. 1 after beating previous No. 1 Texas, 14-7.
Penn State received six first-place votes.
Franklin is one of a large panel of head coaches who vote on the ranking each week.
Beyond the Buckeyes and Lions, four other Big Ten foes made the Top 25: Oregon (5), Illinois (12), Michigan (13) and Indiana (21). Iowa, Nebraska and Washington also received votes.
With a 1-0 start, Penn State continues a light nonconference schedule at home this week against FIU . Notably, FIU received one point in the Coaches Poll this week, meaning one ballot had the
