NORRISTOWN — A Pottstown man is on his way to prison on charges he bit a Pottstown police officer while resisting arrest as police investigated his unusual behavior in the middle of a borough street.

Leon Calvin Brown, 36, of the 1800 block of Federal Street, was sentenced in Montgomery County Court to 5½ to 20 years in a state correctional institution on charges of aggravated assault of a police officer, possession with intent to deliver fentanyl, possession of controlled substances including cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness in connection with a Nov. 19, 2023, incident in the borough.

A jury convicted Brown of the charges during a trial in May.

Judge Wendy G. Rothstein recommended that Brown be housed in a state prison
