A Cranbrook man has been charged with manslaughter for his alleged involvement in the death of a Calgary woman last year.

Nehemiah Walter John Oslund, 29, was taken into custody in B.C. ahead of being transported to Alberta where a date for a court appearance will be set, according to a Calgary Police Services news release.

The investigation stemmed from the death of Jelisa Maschki, 23, who was found to be in medical distress by a passerby along Nose Creek Pathway in northeast Calgary on Dec. 9, 2024.

She was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition and later died of her injuries.
