Three people in the Upstate have been arrested for their involvement in a scheme to send drug-laced books into South Carolina prisons.

On Aug. 29, the South Carolina Department of Corrections Inspector General released the arrest warrants for a former correctional officer, former inmate, and the former inmate's brother on charges of allegedly engaging in a widespread operation to introduce drugs into SCDC prisons. Latest Forecast

According to SCDC, the charges involve sending books containing drug-laced sheets of paper to at least 20 inmates in 14 prisons. The drugs include suboxone and synthetic marijuana commonly known as K2.
