Former Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira announced last week that he is running for a seat in Congress in Texas.

In announcing his candidacy , Teixeira stated that he plans to “help defend President Trump’s America First agenda, Texas families, and individual liberty.”

Tuesday, Teixeira spoke about Trump during an appearance on the " Don’t @ Me with Dan Dakich " podcast.

“I believe that President Trump will go down as the most influential president of my lifetime.,” he said. “You look at where this country was headed. If the Democrats had won the White House and taken over Congress, we were headed towards socialism. And that’s not hyperbole. That is a fact.
