Starting tonight, the Kaneohe-bound lanes of Likelike Highway are scheduled for full, weeknight closures for the installation of rods at Wilson Tunnel, for an estimated two months.

The closure is scheduled from 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. weeknights from Valley View Drive through Wilson Tunnel, according to the Hawaii Department of Transportation. Work will not take place on weekends and holidays.

The project’s estimated completion date is Oct. 31, weather permitting.

Pali Highway and H-3 Freeway will remain open as alternatives.

DOT is replacing the steel rods that support the tunnel ceiling to reduce the likelihood of emergency closures.
