SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — The Georgia Supreme Court has reportedly refused to review an appeal in a lawsuit between two local hospitals, which will allow one of them to open two free-standing emergency departments (FSED).

Memorial Health announced their plans to build two new FSED, one in Pooler and another in Richmond Hill Tuesday.

Memorial originally tried to start the process of building the FSED in 2020, but the St. Joseph’s/Candler Hospital System challenged it in court. The dispute went all the way to the Georgia Supreme Court.

The Georgia Supreme Court declined to hear St. Jospeh's/Candler's request, the Savannah Business Journal reported. Tuesday, Memorial officials told WSAV that they hope to begin construction in the coming years.
