MANCHESTER, N.H. —
An independent candidate for New Hampshire governor is reversing course and switching back to his former political party.
Declaring the Democratic Party dead just nine weeks ago, Jon Kiper is now returning to the fold, scrapping his independent bid for governor to continue campaigning as a Democrat.
"I think after the 2024 election, that's when I thought, 'I want to run as an independent,' because I was mad at the leadership of the party in the state and nationally, and I didn't really know where to put that anger," Kiper said.
In June, Kiper slammed the door on the Democrats, saying they were "failing the American people and the people of New Hampshire." After a couple of months on the campaign trail, he said he sees things differently.
