A Prince George’s County charter school student was hit by a speeding driver Friday afternoon near the school, renewing concerns about student safety as children walk to and from school.

The incident during dismissal for Imagine Lincoln Charter Public School in Marlow Heights occurred at the end of the first week of school in Maryland’s second most populous jurisdiction. The student was struck around 3:30 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Norcross Street and St. Clair Drive, which is less than a block away from the school. There is no crossing guard stationed there.
