D.C. police will get 13 percent raise as city tries to hire more cops

D.C. police officers will receive a 13 percent raise next month in a bid to bolster the department’s ranks, Mayor Muriel E. Bowser (D) said at a news conference Wednesday morning. The department, whose ranks have shrunk to half-century lows, currently employs 3,188 sworn officers, but aims to reach 4,000 officers.
