BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - A new fast-casual restaurant has brought authentic Mediterranean food to Bismarck, and the owner’s story is international.

Habibi owner Shahid Mehmood emigrated from London to Bismarck 18 months ago, hoping to open a restaurant. His cousin owns a similar restaurant in Miami.

Mehmood recruited a chef and his secret sauce and spice recipes from a top-tier restaurant in London. He said he wanted to bring a mix of worldly flavors to Bismarck.

“We miss, really, that kind of food. So that’s why we think that we have to kickstart on that business. Basically, we have an international grocery store already here. Like, that’s not in the Bismarck, that’s in the Minot. But when you think about it like that, business will be boom,” said Mehmood.
