LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Nonprofit organizations and school districts in Laredo are increasing awareness about childhood cancer, reminding young warriors that they are not alone in their fight.
The colors of gold and yellow lit up the Laredo ISD Performing Arts Center to inspire hope for students battling cancer, like Nancy Gizelle Lozano.
According to Lozano’s mother, Nancy Lozano, “She has what’s called Adrenocortical Carcinoma and also Li-Fraumeni syndrome, which gives her a predisposition to other tumors throughout her life.”
Nancy Gizelle Lozano is one of seven LISD students facing a battle that no child should ever have to endure. This struggle began when she was just 11 months old. Since then, doctors have monitored her condition every six months.
