ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —
An intersection remains closed after a sinkhole opened in downtown Albuquerque, affecting one vehicle.
The driver was not hurt after the vehicle could be seen sunk into the roadway near the intersection of Second Street and Copper Avenue NW.
The initial findings by the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Authority found that a water line and storm drain were damaged under the asphalt.
Work is underway to repair the water leak after the sinkhole opened around 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2. It is unknown what caused the collapse.
The intersection is expected to remain closed for several days at the sinkhole location. Temporary water outages, including the First Plaza Galleria, were found but have since been repaired.
