Residents are invited to a Fred Meyer Closure Roundtable from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9 at Green River College Kent Station, 417 Ramsay Way.

The roundtable will be hosted by the Kent Chamber of Commerce to discuss the upcoming Oct. 17 closure of Fred Meyer on East Hill, 10020 SE 240th St. With over 200 jobs impacted and concerns about food access and economic stability, it’s more important than ever that we shape the future of our community—together, according to a Chamber social media post.

People are required to register for the free event at kentchamber.com .

The Chamber wants people to share ideas, voice concerns and collaborate on solutions that serve all of Kent’s residents.

Ohio-based Kroger announced in August that the store will permanently close.
