Ford Washburn took runner-up honors at the season-opening George Kyte Classic
It's clear that former Iowa City High prep Ford Washburn will be one of the top runners this season for Northern Arizona University.
Washburn took runner-up honors at the season-opening George Kyte Classic hosted by the Lumberjacks in Flagstaff, AZ, on Saturday, Aug. 30. The redshirt sophomore was the top Lumberjacks runner in the 4.5-mile race in 22 minutes, 16.1 seconds and leads off this edition of the WEEKEND UPDATE of the best performances by Iowa-based collegiate and postcollegiate distance runners and triathletes.
Washburn trailed only Northern Arizona alum Ryan Raff, who ran 22:12.8. Washburn held off junior teammate Justin Keyes by 1.1 seconds as Northern Arizona finished with a perfect score of 15
