VANCOUVER, Wash. (KPTV) - Evergreen Public Schools in Vancouver announced there will be no school on Wednesday, Sept. 3, as the district and a workers union have yet to come to a contract agreement.
The main demand from the Public School Employees of Washington, or PSE Union, is for more pay and to be able to get paid if they have to stay past their contracted hours.
This is the second time Evergreen Public Schools has pushed back the first day of school this year.
In a statement from the school district, officials say they are delaying the start of school again to give the bargaining teams more time to reach an agreement. The statement also went on to say the PSE employees could continue to work for up to a year under their previous contract, but union leaders opted to strike.
The PSE
