A cleaner allegedly stole more than $10,000 worth in jewelry from a client's suburban Glen Ellyn home, the DuPage County State's Attorney said.
Frances Carter, 44, of Rockford, was charged with felony residential burglary. According to authorities, a Glen Ellyn resident contacted police and reported that a 14K white gold diamond ring and a 14K yellow gold diamond tennis bracelet were stolen from her home sometime after Oct. 11, 2024. The value of the jewelry totaled approximately $11,325.
Police conducted an investigation and were led to Carter, who allegedly took the jewelry while cleaning the woman's home. Carter was taken into custody on Monday without incident, authorities said.
