JAMESTOWN — Jamestown High School head volleyball coach Sara Hegerle was realistic on Tuesday night
"I wouldn't give it an A+ and I don't think our players would either," Hegerle said in an interview following the Jays' first match of the season. "They know they can do better."
While the Blue Jays may be able to do better, game No. 1 of the year was a sweep.
Jamestown defeated Bismarck St. Mary's 25-23, 27-25, 25-18 to start the year off at 1-0 in the Western Dakota Association. Hegerle and the Blue Jays will be back competing on Saturday in Williston. The match against the Coyotes is set to begin at 2:30 p.m.
While Jamestown is returning 11 players from the Blue Jays' 2024 team, there were still some first-game jitters early in the first set which led to a 5-1 run by St. Mary's.
