HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- The son of a Huntersville Police who died of cancer last month received royal treatment on his return to school on Tuesday.
Two weeks after Officer Bill Broadway died, HPD gave his son Declan a special ride to Huntersville Elementary School where he received a special greeting. The ride was a camouflaged-wrapped Tesla Cybertruck -- his favorite car.
Once he arrived to the school in the unique vehicle, members of the force lined up at the entrance to give him high-fives.
Declan also received a replica of a Cybertruck.
According to Broadway’s family, he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cholangiocarcinoma, a rare bile duct cancer, in December 2023. The 47-year-old was an officer for eight years between Huntersville and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.
