ROWLETT, Texas — After two weeks of effort and concern, a kitten who was shot in the face with a dart is finally safe and receiving medical care, thanks to the combined actions of the Rowlett community.
According to officials, animal services officers had been working to capture the kitten named Shadow since mid-August. Humane traps were placed throughout the area, and officers repeatedly attempted to approach the kitten directly. However, his fearful behavior made the process difficult, officials said.
The City of Rowlett Animal Services said at times, Shadow disappeared for several days, further complicating rescue efforts.
“We’ve kept traps out consistently, but we also have to be mindful of the weather to ensure the kitten isn’t left confined in unsafe conditions,” officials said.
