NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (WTNH) — First Student, a bus company in New Britain, is bringing drivers in from out of state to help with a shortage that has resulted in students being dropped off several hours late, to the wrong school or to the wrong house.
First Student is contracted by The Consolidated School District of New Britain to pick up and drop off students throughout the district.
Starting the second week of school Tuesday, buses were running about 90 minutes late, which was an improvement from last week.
At a Board of Education meeting Tuesday night, Superintendent Dr. Tony Gasper said the situation, including his inability to properly communicate issues to parents, is unacceptable.
