Some say kratom is as addictive as heroin; others say it's the cure to their chronic pain. The supplement is easily accessible across the country. To find out how individuals in the metro have been affected, KETV investigated.

Dylan Lozo struggled with addiction throughout his life. After methamphetamine landed him in jail, Lozo turned to kratom, believing it would be a safer alternative.

"I went and bought it wherever, and I felt great the first six months. I used it every day. I think it was 1,000g a month was what I was going through," said Lozo.

However, when he tried to quit kratom, he experienced severe side effects.
