EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH, La. (WAFB) - From the football field to the band hall, uniforms are more than clothing. They’re a symbol of pride and identity.
But for nearly a decade, the band at Glen Oaks High School has performed without them.
“The leadership of Bobby Bowman got us our last set of uniforms, but unfortunately, the flood of 2016 hurt our program,” said Glen Oaks Band Director Jonas Brown.
Those uniforms were destroyed during the 2016 flood. Since then, students have been limited to performing in T-shirts or hoodies on game days.
Brown said the lack of uniforms has also held the band back from bigger opportunities, such as performing at some local, regional, and national events like the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade or the Rose Bowl.
