Sheinelle Jones is returning to Today following her hiatus.

Sheinelle first announced she would be going on hiatus from Today in December 2024, citing family health issues. In May 2025, Sheinelle confirmed that her husband, Uche Ojeh , had passed away following a battle with brain cancer.

On Tuesday (September 2), Savannah Guthrie announced that Sheinelle had chosen her return date.

Savannah revealed on the episode that Sheinelle would be returning to Today on Friday (September 5).

“She calls this experience ‘a beautiful nightmare,’ and she has thoughts on grief that are so touching. She’s got a special message of hope for anybody facing their own struggles, and we will share that with you [Friday],” Savannah revealed on the episode.
