BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —

The Alabama Department of Transportation started construction on a street widening project on Tuesday, and it will be an extended project that could impact your commute. The right westbound lane on Highway 280 will be closed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. until Friday. The section of the road from Highway 149 to I-459 interchange.

WVTM 13 talked to businesses at Cahaba Village that gave mixed reactions about impacts to traffic flow. Some said they don’t notice a difference because they close around the time construction is expected to start and open after construction is supposed to be done overnight. Others said it can be a nightmare getting out of the parking lot if exits and entrances to the highway are closed.
