DORA, Ala. —

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating an apparent shooting that led to the deaths of a man and woman in Dora.

The sheriff's office said deputies responded to the 3500 block of White Road Monday at 11:41 p.m.

Deputies found a 51-year-old woman and a 55-year-old man, both suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Medics arrived and pronounced both dead at the scene.

The sheriff's office said the man was found to be the suspect in this incident and was identified as Elton Barks.

The preliminary investigation revealed the woman was shot, then the suspect turned the gun on himself and fired, the sheriff's office said.

JCSO said the woman and man were in a relationship.
