EUGENE — Dakorien Moore made an instant impact for Oregon, though partially in a way not widely expected of the five-star receiver.

Moore, who had three catches for 26 yards and two runs for 17 yards in Oregon’s 59-13 win over Montana State, made key blocks on three big plays for the Ducks. The true freshman’s pass blocking grade (88.9) from Pro Football Focus led all receivers nationally in Week 1.

Moore’s pancake block of a Montana State defensive back on Gary Bryant Jr.’s touchdown reception drew instant praise. He also had key periimeter blocks on Noah Whittington’s 35-yard run to open the game and Jayden Limar’s 16-yard touchdown run that capped Oregon’s opening drive.

For a true freshman to make such an impact in his collegiate debut is “not natural,” according to Dan Lanning.
