COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho — The heat and it's impact on pets took center stage at Tuesday's Coeur d'Alene City Council Meeting.
Nick Jamison played with his dog, Alex, at McEuen Park that day.
He said the warmer weather this week is making him do more to try and have his 10-year-old pup beat the heat.
"We know that you're still pretty cool buddy," said Jamison. "He's always been such a good boy. He's a great family dog and we try our best to take care of him. Periodically, we bring him to the lake because he loves the water."
It's an attentiveness to his pet that the City of Coeur d'Alene wants to emphasize during hotter days. Coeur d'Alene Police Chief Lee White says animal control officers respond to call after call of pets locked in cars by themselves.
