A woman who woke to find her house on fire has told a jury she has 'never felt terror like it’.

Her husband Nicholas Martin denies offences including attempted murder and arson with intent to endanger life and is on trial at Minshull Street Crown Court.

Prosecutors allege the 63-year-old would control what his wife ate; what she watched on the TV; what she wore; isolated her from friends and family and installed cameras in the home.

Events culminated in October last year, jurors were told, when the defendant allegedly set her home on fire. The woman jumped out of the window to escape the blaze, the court heard.
