Harbor High’s girls volleyball team rallied past visiting Salinas 22-25, 28-26, 25-19, 26-24 in the teams’ marquee nonleague match Tuesday.
The Pirates, the two-time defending Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League champion, graduated 10 seniors from their Central Coast Section Division IV finalist team, and the Cowboys graduated nine seniors from its D-I section championship team.
Junior setter Gianna Fanara made 42 assists and served a season-high seven aces to pace the Pirates’ diverse offense.
“The back row defense from the entire Harbor roster was lights out,” Pirates coach Matt Schutz said. “Salinas played really hard and the energy in the gym was electric.”
