Matthew Schaller, Luke O’Brien, Manny Alvarez and Kyle Moore each scored as Verona blanked Shabazz, 4-0, in Verona.
Schaller opened the scoring in the first period off an assist from Joseph Houck. O’Brien doubled the lead soon after, with Schaller providing the assist. Alvarez capped the first period scoring, assisted by Jaeden Mchugh, as Verona (1-0) took a commanding 3-0 lead into halftime.
Moore added an insurance goal in the second period to provide the final 4-0 margin.
The Verona defense was stout, allowing only one shot on goal. Goalie Teddy Handler made the lone save to earn the clean sheet. Titus Halliday also saw time in goal for the Hillbillies.
