Businessman Philip Sarnecki is the latest person to throw their hat in the race for Kansas governor, becoming the ninth person to enter the Republican primary.

Sarnecki is the managing partner of RPS Benefits by Design, an Overland Park firm that provides wealth management services. In 2019, the Leawood-based RPS Benefits by Design office became one of the largest life insurance companies in the country under Sarnecki, after it acquired several Northwestern Mutual offices, according to The Kansas Business Journal .

He is also a film producer and most recently worked as an executive producer for the 2024 film "Monster Summer."

In a political ad announcing his campaign, Sarnecki said he's not a politician, but was "tired of seeing Republicans losing in Kansas."
