Apple season can run from July to November
Henderson County is a major apple growing hub in the state and the region
HENDERSONVILLE - Labor Day, the North Carolina Apple Festival and the King Apple Parade are now behind us, but apple season is really just ramping up.
And Henderson County is a major apple capital, among the top 20 apple growing counties in the country, owing partly to its cool nights, warm days and fertile soil, according to the Hendersonville Welcome Center’s website.
Henderson County grows 80% of North Carolina’s apples, according to the city of Hendersonville’s website.
Fall is upon us, but with months of prime harvesting ahead, September and October is just the time to get out into the apple orchards to pick yourself a basketful, whether they’re to eat or to bake.
