A man who tormented his mum at her own home in north Manchester has been banned from contacting her and given an electronic tag. The 32-year-old was issued with the order last week after police identified him as a domestic abuser but could not prosecute him.

It comes as Greater Manchester Police secures another Domestic Abuse Protection Order (DAPO) as part of a nationwide trial which started last year. Hundreds of perpetrators have been issued with the orders so far and some have been jailed for breaching them.

Among latest DAPOs to be issued was a six-month order for the 32-year-old man who had subjected his mum to threats of violence.

He became known to police after it was reported that he had turned up at his mum's property in north Manchester, thrown items around and made threats
