QUINCY (WGEM) - Illinois residents -- if you’re looking to declutter household items that may be hazardous, there’s an opportunity to do just that in the Gem City this Saturday.

On Saturday, Sept. 6, from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m., the Adams County Health Department and the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency are partnering up for the first time in two years for a household hazardous waste collection day.

The event will take place at the Adams County Highway Department (101 N. 54th St.), where you will want to enter from 54th Street.

There, you can discard household items (i.e., cleaning products, lawn chemicals).

“This is the perfect event to bring those unwanted or unknown chemicals,” said Tony Dede, ACHD’s environmental health supervisor. “And get rid of them in a safe way.”
