An automotive components business that’s based in Japan will set up a regional headquarters and create 200 jobs in Wixom, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced Tuesday night.
In a news release, Whitmer, who’s currently on a trade mission to Japan and Singapore, said Astemo Ltd. is planning a $95 million investment in Oakland County. Astemo chose Michigan for its expansion over competing sites in Ohio, the governor’s office said.
“I’ll work with anyone to strengthen Michigan’s auto ecosystem and bring jobs and investments back home to our state,” Whitmer said. “Let’s keep working together to lead and build the future so that more working families can ‘make it’ in Michigan.”
