MASON CITY—Despite a loss on Tuesday, the Mason City Riverhawks are motivated to have a breakout year in 2025.

The Riverhawks (0-4) had their first non-tournament game of the year where they were swept by the Des Moines Roosevelt Roughriders (4-4) in Mason City on Tuesday night (18-25, 16-25, 12-25).

Mason City showed a lot of glimpses of great plays throughout the night. The Riverhawks were ultimately overwhelmed by a strong Roughrider offense and some tough breaks in the third set.
