Surely even the most ardent Second Amendment-rights people and the National Rifle Association don't condone tragedies like the recent shooting of students in a Catholic church in Minnesota. (" After Minneapolis shooting, there are new calls for gun restrictions, and familiar divisions ," Aug. 29.)
Could the NRA, Second Amendment-rights proponents and those seeking stricter gun laws come together and develop sensible laws that would help to prevent another school shooting, yet not infringe on the Second Amendment rights the Supreme Court has stated exist?
No one wants a school shooting to happen again. So we should be able to take steps together to limit or prevent them.
