Luis Arraez hit a wall late in August, even after the team’s dominant run. He slumped to a .233 batting average and a .577 OPS, which is not the kind of numbers Padres fans are used to from their top contact hitter. But over the past few games, the veteran has turned things around impressively.
In Monday’s game against the Orioles, Arraez notched his 1,000th career hit as part of a three-hit night. The very next day, he added a two-run homer in a 6-2 loss and even mixed in a lighthearted mid-game moment that had fans smiling.
As a pitch bounced near him in the third inning, Luis Arraez dropped and knocked out two pushups before getting back up. It was one of those “only in baseball” moments.
