SANFORD, Florida - It may look like an oversized Good Humor Ice Cream Truck right now, but once it's painted, emblazoned with graphics, and equipment is installed, it will become the Mahoning County Emergency Management Agency’s new Mobile Command Unit.

The EMA says it will provide updated photos on Facebook of the construction process taking place at MBF Industries in Sanford, Florida.

The EMA began the process of replacing its 20-year-old mobile command post in 2024. The Mahoning County Commissioners allocated $800,000 for the project.

The vehicle is intended to be more technologically advanced than its predecessor and will be available for use by law enforcement and other public safety agencies.
