Friends and other Friendly City residents have long called him Mr. Woodstock, but that doesn’t mean he has to like it.
“To be clear, I’ve never subscribed or been comfortable with the moniker,” says Brad Janssen, a longtime Woodstock resident who’s been one of the city’s biggest promoters for the past three decades.
Janssen, a recipient of the Queen’s Jubilee Medal, the King Charles III Coronation Medal and the community service award from the Woodstock Chamber of Commerce, talked to London Free Press reporter Heather Rivers about his lengthy career in radio and local television, and the pride the takes in his role as The Friendly City’s biggest fan.
Q: Why do they call you Mr. Woodstock?
I imagine it was born out of my community engagement over the years. For a five-year period, I hos
