The "special inquiry" into Appoquinimink's unexpected budget hole has just closed.
Delaware Auditor Lydia York's office released a 14-page report on Sept. 3, concluding over a month of pointed investigation into the school district's roughly $4.9 million summer shortfall. Several area lawmakers called for the inquiry, which was also supported by district leaders, in days following the school board's July decision to approve increased taxes in part to cover that gap.
