SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio — The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide after deputies discovered a man dead at a residence on Millers Run Fallen Timber Road Monday night.

According to Sheriff David Thoroughman, the 911 communication center received a call at 9:40 p.m. on September 1. The caller told dispatchers he had stopped by to check on a friend and found him unresponsive.

Deputies, detectives, and emergency medical squads responded to the scene. Following an initial investigation, authorities determined the death was the result of a homicide.

The victim has been identified as 59-year-old Rocky L. Jordan.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) and the State Fire Marshal’s Office are assisting in the ongoing investigation.
